How Bofams Built a Mango Export Business in Just 5 Years

In the quiet farming community of Kpong, Ghana, a dream took root — a dream to connect local farmers to international fruit markets.
It began with just a few acres of mango trees, tended with care, hope, and belief. Behind those trees stood a bigger vision: to grow Ghana’s finest Kent and Keitt mangoes and share their natural sweetness with the world.
Today, Bofams Agrifield Ltd stands among Ghana’s most reliable export-ready mango companies, supplying quality fresh mangoes to importers who value consistency, honesty, and sustainability.
From Passion to Purpose
“The journey has not been easy. It has been built through hard work, community, and an unshakable belief that Ghanaian mangoes can stand proudly among the best in the world.”
says Esther Torfi, CEO of Bofams.
Bofams began with pure passion at a time when no investor was willing to support agriculture — right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We saw the vision and decided to take it by force”
Esther recalls.
The founders believed that agriculture in Ghana could do more than sustain families — it could build businesses, create employment, protect the environment, and shift local economies.
Building the Orchard and the Dream

With a 60-acre nucleus farm expanding toward 200 acres and a growing network of outgrower farmers, Bofams cultivates mangoes using modern, sustainable, and environmentally conscious practices.
Every mango harvested represents hope and proof that Ghanaian farmers can meet global export standards through discipline, training, and dedication to people, planet, and prosperity — the three pillars of Bofams’ sustainability philosophy.
As the trees flourished, the Bofams team learned the language of export — quality control, traceability, and international compliance — and integrated these systems into their daily operations.
Commitment to Quality and Standards
Bofams partners with certified pack houses and trusted logistics providers to ensure every mango is sorted and packed with care.
“Our goal is to make sure each fruit meets at least Class 1 export quality — fresh, firm, and traceable,”
says Daniel Mason, Chief Operating Officer.
Through strategic planning, Bofams has become more than a farm; it’s a purpose-driven Ghanaian mango export company reaching beyond borders and contributing to the country’s agricultural transformation.
Strategic Partnerships for Growth and Impact

Bofams understands that no great company grows alone.
It has formed strong partnerships with PEA Agro Consult, an agro-trade consultancy providing export guidance, farmer training, and market access, and with the Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association of Ghana (VEPEAG), which supports Ghanaian fruit and vegetable exporters.
The company also works with leading local processors such as Pure and Just Company and HPW Fresh & Dry Ltd, who source high-quality mangoes from Bofams and its out-growers for value addition and export.
These collaborations have had a profound impact on the Bofams story — helping uplift local farmers, create jobs, and promote inclusive growth across the mango value chain.
For Bofams, every export success is also a farmer success story — and a win for Ghana’s local agribusiness ecosystem.
Farming Through Challenges
Despite remarkable progress, challenges remain. The orchards face dry spells from climate change, pest outbreaks, and fluctuating market conditions.
To overcome these, the company practices integrated pest management, efficient water use, mulching, and soil health improvement to maintain productivity and fruit quality even in difficult seasons.
Although Bofams doesn’t yet own a pack house, it rents certified facilities to maintain strict post-harvest standards.
Every box is inspected before shipment to ensure only premium Ghana mangoes reach buyers.
These environmentally responsible practices reflect Bofams’ commitment to the Earth — reducing waste, conserving resources, and promoting a greener agricultural future.
Integrity in Trade
Bofams believes that international trade is built on trust and transparency.
To make trade seamless and reliable, the company offers a 30-day payment window for verified importers — ensuring smooth transactions and strong relationships.
Each shipment is handled with precision, every document carefully verified, and every buyer treated as a long-term partner.
Empowering Farmers and Communities

As a woman-led agribusiness, Bofams keeps people at its heart.
The company supports local smallholder farmers with training, access to inputs, and fair payment systems, helping them transition from small-scale to export-grade production.
Each container of mangoes represents hundreds of lives improved — farmers empowered, children educated, and communities strengthened.
Through its outgrower model, Bofams promotes sustainable livelihoods, gender inclusion, and youth participation in agribusiness — ensuring that its growth benefits everyone it touches.
A Promise That Grows With Every Season
In Kpong, mango trees don’t just grow fruit; they grow dreams.
Five years after its first mango tree blossomed, Bofams Agrifield Ltd has become one of Ghana’s most trusted mango exporters.
Through resilience, partnerships, and purpose, the company continues to serve as a bridge between Ghanaian farmers and the global fruit market.
Every day, Bofams proves that agriculture is not just about crops — it’s about People, Planet, and Prosperity: empowering people, protecting the earth, and building sustainable livelihoods.
And as each harvest season arrives, Bofams renews its promise to deliver fresh, quality Kent and Keitt mangoes from Ghana — grown with heart, harvested with care, and shipped to the world with pride.
